ERASMUS is the common  name of the European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students, a well-known, respected and highly successful student exchange program initiated by the EU in 1987. Building on this brand, Erasmus + (2014-2020) is the new 16 billion Euro catch-all framework program of the EU for education, training, youth and sport.

Who can benefit from Erasmus?
Higher education students (short cycle, first, second or third cycle) and staff (academic and non-academic).

What does it offer?
• The possibility to study and undertake workplace training abroad in one of the 27 EU states (Austria, Belgium, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech republic, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, UK, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Hungary), the candidate countries (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey) and EEA countries (Island, Liechtenstein, Norway). Erasmus+ temporary mobility for studies usually takes between 3 and 12 months. For work-based training and internships, the minimum period is of 2 months.
• Grants to co-finance the living cost in a foreign country.
• Exemption from tuition fees, registration, examinations, access to laboratories at the host university

How can you apply?
In order to apply to Erasmus+ you should contact your university, which will be able to provide you with all the details of the programme: the selection criteria, information on the grants offered, Erasmus+ mobility destinations, application deadlines, required documents.

Romania is part of the Erasmus system, thus there are numerous universities that accept international students through Erasmus +.
