Currently, Romania is in state of alert.

The state of alert has been prolonged with the Government Decision no. 531 / 13 May 2021 (RO).

The following restrictions remain in place for 30 days, with the possibly of being renewed:

masks, covering the nose and mouth, are mandatory for all people over the age of 5, both indoor and outdoor;
night time curfew is in place between the hours 22.00 – 05.00, with the exception of transport to/from work, seeking medical assistance, purchasing medicine, or providing care to children/elderly; for these instances, personal declaration forms or professional declaration form / employer declaration / work card are required – see here for the template (in Romanian);
shops are open between 07.00 and 21.00;
activities in closed fitness gyms will be suspended in all localities in which the cumulated COVID-19 incidence rate in the last 14 days is larger than 4 per 1,000 of residents.

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS - Updated!

As of 10 May 2021, the list of countries that require self-quarantine for 14 days when traveling to Romania has been updated by the National Institute of Public Health and is available here (in Romanian). The list is updated weekly, on Monday, and the rules apply starting the next day. For future updates, please see the National Institute of Public Health, Romania (information in Romanian).
