Hello everyone! My name is Jihan Hasna Jauza Apandi, but you can call me Jihan for short!

I am an Aerospace Engineering student at Politehnica Bucharest, a StudyInRomania student ambassador, and a proud awardee of the Romanian Government Scholarship by ARICE (Romanian Agency for Investments and Foreign Trade). In this article, I want to give you a quick overview of the ARICE scholarship and how you can apply.

I first discovered this scholarship through the Indonesian Student Association in Romania, with the invaluable help of the Indonesian Embassy in Romania and Moldova.

What Makes the ARICE Scholarship Different?

The main difference between this scholarship and the one offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) comes down to the recommendation letter. For the ARICE scholarship, you must obtain a recommendation letter from an institution that has an official agreement or relationship with Romania.

Examples of these institutions include:

  • The economic representative of ARICE in your home country.
  • The Embassy or Consulates of your country of residence located in Romania.
  • Organizations whose activities actively contribute to bilateral economic agreements with Romania.

Once you have this recommendation letter, it must be sent directly to ARICE by that representative institution, along with your filled-out application forms and necessary documents.

Key Details: Eligibility and Benefits

Before you apply, here is what you need to know about who can apply and what is covered:

  • Who can apply: This scholarship is open to all foreign citizens, with the exception of EU and EFTA member states.
  • Degrees offered: Bachelor’s, Master’s, Postgraduate/Residency (limited to emergency medicine or cardiology specializations only), and PhD programs.
    • Note: Dental medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy are non-eligible domains.
  • Priority Majors: High priority is given to fields like economics and business, administration, agricultural sciences, technical sciences, and oil and gas majors.
  • The Benefits: This scholarship offers the exact same wonderful benefits as the MFA scholarship. You will receive full funding for your tuition fees (including the Romanian language preparatory year and your university degree), a monthly allowance, medical assistance, subsidized accommodation, and local student discounts (such as city transportation discounts).

The Selection Process

Because this scholarship only offers 40 seats in total, the competition is very fierce! Once your documents are submitted, the announcement process happens in two stages:

  1. First Stage: A list of 40 main candidates and 20 reserved candidates will be announced. These documents are then sent to the Ministry of Education for a final round of screening.
  2. Final Stage: The final results will be announced, and you will receive your official Letter of Acceptance directly via email.

I wish you the absolute best of luck with your application process, and I hope to see you later in Romania!
