Proiect cofinantat din Fondul Social European prin Programul Operational Capital Uman 2014 – 2020
Safekeeper of a teaching tradition whose beginnings concur with the higher artistic education in Bucharest, the Art History and Theory Department aims at training specialists in historiography, criticism and theory of art, museography, museology, curatorial theories and practices and cultural management. Specializations and research interests of the department staff members cover a vast history area, from ancient to contemporary classicism. The direct examination of art works combines with the exploration of new theoretical trends of the discipline. The lectures are structured on several major directions: history of art and culture in Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the history of Romanian art from Late Antiquity to present, European art history in the same period, the development of art theory from Pre-Renaissance to the 20th century, museology, curatorial studies, cultural management, aesthetics and philosophy of image. One benefit that should be emphasized is the possibility to directly communicate with future practitioners of the visual arts.
