Since its foundation in 1948, the University of Petroşani has had the mission to train graduate specialists for all the fields of activity specific for the mining industry, as well as for other industrial branches: mining machines and installations, technological equipment, energy and process automation.
The strategy of developing the curricula of the HEI has started from the need to establish solid connections among the three levels of the Bologna educational system: Bachelor – Master studies – Doctoral studies. Over the last years, the educational offer expanded every year, both for bachelor and master studies, so that in the current academic year, the University provides 24 bachelor programmes, 22 master programmes and 4 Doctoral fields. The managerial structure of the University includes the following three faculties: the Faculty of Mines; the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering; the Faculty of Science. 
Nowadays, aproximatelly 4000 students are enrolled within the three Faculties and the Doctoral School.
Among the strenghts of the HEI we highlight the following:
- A consolidated infrastructure of the University, totally self-owned, permanently developed in order to ensure adequate education conditions and social services for students;

”Valahia” University of Targoviste it is a state university, founded in 1992, with the qualifier "HIGH DEGREE of CONFIDENCE" granted by the Council of ARACIS. As an essential part of its strategy ”Valahia” University of Târgoviște offer a variety of support services for students, being constantly concerned about their improvement and about the creation of new services, as it is aware of the fact that good quality of the educational environment attracts superior results along the two main activity axes: education and research. Scholarships: The University offers performance scholarships (scientific, sportive and cultural-artistic), merit scholarships and social scholarships. "Constantin Brancusi" University of Targu-Jiu (UCB) was founded in 1992 by Government Decision no. 288/15 June 1992 and it is situated in the center of Tg-Jiu city, in the area near Central Park of the town. Nowadays, our University offers a complex material and completely modernized base: seven buildings as places of education, 2 students' hostels with 120 places of accommodation, lecture/classrooms modern equipped, a distance e-learning platform, library with 5 lecture rooms which has 120000 tomes from all the scientific domains, a recreation centre for students, a gymnasium, playing fields, a recreational chalet in Rânca holiday resort. Currently, our University has 2924 students, 5 components, 2 departments and a college: 
-The Faculty of Engineering and Sustainable Development consists of two departments: the Department of Automation, Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development (AEDD)  and the Department of Engineering and Management of Technological Systems (IMST);
-Faculty of Economics consists of two departments: Department of Management, Marketing and Business Administration and  the Department of Finance and Accounting;

Universitatea de Vest din Timișoara (UVT) / West University of Timişoara (WUT) is the main higher education institution and research center in Western Romania.
