German Language and Literature - Spanish Language and Literature
The Department of German Language and Literature can proudly look back on a long history, as the activity of German studies in Cluj began with the founding of the Franz Joseph University in 1872. The then 26-year-old young scientist Hugo von Meltzl received his appointment as Professor and remained the holder of the chair until his early death (1908). The discipline survived the difficult war years and its temporary abolition by the socialist government in 1948.
The specialization can be combined with Spanish as a segment B language. The curriculum comprises of courses of Spanish language (morphology, syntax, lexicology, and semantics), Spanish literature (studies chronologically), practical courses and optional courses meant to complete the study of the Spanish language: specialized Spanish, colloquial Spanish, South American literature and more.
