Ukrainian Language and Literature - Chinese Language and Literature
The specialization Ukrainian language and literature came into existence in 1999 with a view to support the Ukrainian minority in Romania (by supplying trained teachers for Ukrainian language schools) and those interested in the study of Slavic languages and cultures. Over the 15 years since the setting up of the specialization, a most favourable framework has been created with the purpose of training specialists in various fields; the main goal is to train up teachers, researchers in philology, translators, interpreters, reviewers, civil servants, councillors, employees in multinational corporations, members of the diplomatic corps, journalists, reporters. The curriculum includes theoretical courses such as: Ukrainian culture and literature, Phonetics, Morphology, Syntax as well as numerous practical courses: Conversation, Translation and Back Translation, Grammar Exercises, Essay Writing.
The specialization can be combined with Chinese as a segment B language. The primary objective of the Chinese Language and Literature specialization is to develop not only a linguistic competence which would allow the students' fluent use of the Chinese language, but also the constitution of a cultural background which would aid them in their future endeavour of developing their Sinology studies. The courses are being taught both in Romanian and in Chinese.
