The bachelor study programme Computational Physics has the general mission to provide broad knowledge and competences in the field of Physics, as well as knowledge and competences specific to Computational Physics. In the context of the above considerations, the program has the specific mission to prepare physicists who possess knowledge of both Physics and Computer Science, able to understand the role and importance of these two components and their interconnection in an interdisciplinary study program.
The specific objective of the study program Computational Physics is the development of six types of professional competences and three types of transversal competences.
Professional competences- identification and appropriate use of the main physical laws and principles in a given context;- using of software packages for data analysis and processing;- solving physical problems under imposed conditions, using numerical and statistical methods;- applying knowledge of physics both in concrete situations in related fields and in experiments using standard laboratory equipment;- developing and using computer applications and virtual instrumentation to solve various physics problems;- interdisciplinary approach to physics topics.
Transversal competences- performing professional tasks in an efficient and responsible manner in compliance with the legislation of deontology specific to the field under qualified assistance;- application of effective multidisciplinary teamwork techniques at various hierarchical levels;- effective use of information sources and communication resources assisted vocational training, both in Romanian and in an international language.
Graduates of the study programme Computational Physics can be employed as: physicist, physics analyst, physics scholar, physics research scientist, physics scientist, nuclear physicist.
