Decorative Arts

The curriculum of the Decorative Arts program is built around the study of textile arts, both as a practical method of study and as a paradigm. Textiles in contemporary times, in addition to multiplying with the proliferation of synthetic materials, take on new aesthetic, symbolic and practical features. With their versatility as a basic characteristic, textiles have proved to be an inexhaustible problem-solving resource for various functional domains, from electronics to architecture. The study program monitors the preservation and promotion of textile arts in this dual role: on the one hand, as visual arts, on the other hand, the design of utilitarian objects.
