Geography of Tourism

Geography of Tourism has evolved towards the last century as a university specialization that focus on the investigation of tourism phenomenon, having as strengths the geographic approach of the areas of destination and their organization in order to sustain tourist activities. Among the main approached topics lie: the study of the influence of travels for tourism on the area of origin and destination area, environmental effects of tourism, impact of tourism on the contemporary society.
Geography of tourism is a Bachelor’s degree program, accredited as a three years full time education.
The programme has a threefold approach: spatial (geographical features of the tourism activities), dynamic (evolution and development of the branch) and sustainability (planning, infrastructure).
The labor opportunities for the graduates are extremely wide, from tourism agencies, tour operators, business centers and travel companies who conceive, manage and implement development projects in tourism, regional and local administration, NGO’s in the field, information centers etc.
