Electrical Power Systems Engineering

Bachelor programme (BA/ BSc)

Faculty of Energy Engineering Bucharest

Program description

The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Electrical Power Systems Engineering (ISE) provides interdisciplinary training that prepares graduates for careers across the electric power sector, both nationally and internationally. Students acquire knowledge in electrical measurements, electrical machines and drive systems, power equipment, automatic control, artificial intelligence, power electronics and high-voltage engineering. The curriculum also covers electrical installations in power plants and substations, electricity transmission and distribution networks, relay protection, transformer stations, power system optimisation, electricity use and energy markets. Students develop the technical and analytical skills required to design, operate, monitor and improve modern electrical power systems, including systems integrating photovoltaic and wind power plants. The programme has held EUR-ACE® certification since the 2021–2022 academic year, confirming its compliance with recognised European standards for engineering education. Graduates can pursue careers as electrical power systems engineers, power grid engineers, electrical design engineers, energy auditors, electrical engineers, or engineers responsible for photovoltaic and wind power plants. Further career and specialisation opportunities are available through related master’s degree programmes. (https://energ.upb.ro/en/study/degree-programs/study-program/ise)
