Durable Concrete Structures

The “Durable Concrete Structures” M.Sc. Program offers specialization in the field of reinforced and prestressed concrete, covering structural design, execution and concrete technology in a modern construction industry.
The program explores in detail the following domains:
- Concrete as a building material, from basic components to modern admixtures;
- Durability of concrete structures to aggressive environments, mitigating corrosion of the reinforcement;
- Quality control, inspection and monitoring techniques with non-destructive testing equipment;
- Advanced structural analysis, including finite element method;
- Design of reinforced and prestressed concrete, cast in place and precast concrete structures, from residential and commercial buildings, industrial structures, to roads and bridges;
- Fire resistance design and management of concrete structures.
Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the behaviour of concrete structures and the latest trends in the industry. The program confers the knowledge and skills required for pursuing or advancing a career in structural design and execution.
