Journalism

The Journalism BA program taught in Romanian at FSPAC is the oldest of the four complete Journalism Bachelor level study programs offered by Babeș-Bolyai University: in Romanian, Hungarian, German and in English. The six-semester study program focuses on national and international media and delivers key competences in news writing, photojournalism, broadcast journalism and online media. The curriculum features production activities in simulated newsrooms, project-based competitions, courses aimed at developing practical skills in writing, photo editing, layout and design for both print and online media and video journalism. The faculty members teaching in the study program emphasize critical thinking, team work and the development of student projects, especially in the online media. The Department values interdisciplinary approaches that manage to successfully blend theoretical frameworks and methodological tools from fields like sociology, psychology, information science, arts and the humanities. Extra-curricular activities in student media institutions such as UBB Radio, UBB TV, Media Project, StudentPress and the 50mm Photo Club provide opportunities for both professional experience and socializing.
