Program description

The Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) program provides graduates with solid knowledge and management skills for professional work in the manufacturing industry and advanced production systems. The MET curriculum provides a combination between fundamental sciences and mechanical disciplines with professional courses in manufacturing, processes and systems.

The general technical courses, focusing on the practical application of engineering knowledge, include the subject areas engineering materials and mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics, electrical engineering, CAD/CAM, tolerance and dimensional control, technical drawing and infographics, and machine elements. The manufacturing-specific courses cover subjects in cutting, forming and welding processes, CNC, fixture design, quality assurance, composites and plastics, rapid prototyping and production management.

All technical courses have an extensive practical component carried out in various specialized laboratories. The use of computer tools is present throughout the curriculum. Students identify, explain, and utilize the approaches used by academics and professionals to study, analyze, or understand problems, and offer solutions.
