Theatre Faculty Bucharest

Program description

The Theatre Studie (Theatre Journalism) Bachelor's programme offers an interdisciplinary training that combines theoretical and practical training. The study programme prepares specialists in the fields of theatre criticism and cultural journalism, respectively the theory and aesthetics of theatre and performing arts, with an additional ability to put theoretical knowledge into practice, as an active member within the creative teams of a theatre performance, as well as in the organisational chart of a theatre or any other type of performance institution." In the spirit of this dual training as an active theatrologist, the studies in History, Theory and Aesthetics of Theatre, as well as the disciplines of Spectacology and Media Theory and Practice are supplemented with disciplines from the management of the artistic creation process and that of the Cultural Project Management. The active theatre researcher is involved, as a member of the creative team of the theatrical performance, from the documentation phase to the production and critical reflection of the performance.

The curriculum offers students the opportunity to acquire and deepen theatrical and cultural knowledge, in accordance with the standards of scientific research in the field of Performing Arts.
It also includes disciplines such as Dramaturgy, Screenwriting and Creative Writing, which ensure the formation of the skills of a playwright specialized in the adaptation and processing of dramatic text.
This type of training allows our graduates to work in the country and abroad, in a multitude of professional environments: public cultural institutions – theatres, operas, museums, libraries; mass media – print media, online, radio, television; independent theatre; book publishers; advertising companies; university and pre-university education. Our graduates also work in governmental institutions (Ministry of Culture, Romanian Cultural Institute, Romanian Cultural Institutes abroad) or within non-governmental organizations in the cultural and educational field.
