Master programme (Ma/ MSc)

Faculty of Philosophy Bucharest

Program description

This two-year research master programme aims at providing students with skills and insights needed to do independent intellectual work in philosophy at postgraduate level. Some of our students acquire these skills and insights in preparation for their doctoral studies, others plan to use them in a variety of other intellectual pursuits, while some are interested in becoming philosophy professors. All are, however, welcome to participate in a lively research environment in which students are encouraged to interact with some of the best scholars in the field. Our programme fosters key skills such as critical and articulated thinking, accurate identification of the main tenets of a debate, minute analysis of the issues discussed, elaborate argumentation in favour of a point of view, and the rapid detection of fallacious arguments. Thus, students who do not wish to pursue an academic career in philosophy may still find many opportunities to apply these skills later on in institutions, organizations or companies where clear analytical thinking is a valuable asset.
