Master programme (Ma/ MSc)

Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures Bucharest

Program description

Master of Religious Studies - Texts and Traditions is the only master program in the country that proposes the academic, non-denominational study of religious phenomena, giving equal dignity, without discrimination, to the religious traditions studied.

Special emphasis is placed on the rigorous and in-depth study of the fundamental texts, under the careful and generous guidance of our professors, prestigious specialists in the field of the disciplines taught and experts in the languages in which these texts are written.

The program covers both the study of Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) and the study of non-Abrahamic Eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Daoism, Shamanism), from a perspective that combines approaches from the history of religions, history of ideas, philosophy of religion, philosophy of science, comparative religion, political science, sociology, philology, hermeneutics, etc.

At the same time, the program re-discusses the relationship between science and religion, respectively between religious studies and education, from the perspective of re-evaluating knowledge in relation to human formation as a stake of the humanities.
