Cultural resources and heritage are vital areas for 21st century communities as they are hallmarks of local and regional cultural identity. Identifying, researching, preserving and enhancing those heritage assets that are the emblems of community identity is the important challenge of governments and local institutions. At the same time, a well-managed cultural resource can become a valuable economic resource contributing to the development of a region, including solving the problem of unemployment.
