Civil Engineering

The mission of the Civil Engineering programme is the excellence in the Civil Engineering education, research and professional service, aiming to train qualified specialists able to perform a variety of tasks from design to monitor buildings during their lifetime. At the same time, the programme enhance the possibility to obtain the necessary skills to initiate and develop research activities in the field of Civil Engineering in the context of sustainable development.

The curricular areas comprise fundamental disciplines in the first two years (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry), and in the last two years a large number of specialised disciplines such as Mechanics, Building Materials, Earthquake Engineering, Geotechnics and Foundations, Civil Buildings, Concrete, Steel and Timber Structures, Composite Construction Materials and Elements, Technology and Management of Constructions Works. Each year of study also includes practical training aiming to provide the students with competence and abilities in the professional field.

The Civil Engineering programme follows the demands of labour market and its curriculum is adapted as an education programme opened to the new trends of knowledge based society.
