For over 145 years, Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Iași (UMF Iași) has shaped generations of healthcare professionals through high-quality education, innovative research, and a strong international focus. Recognized among Romania’s leading medical universities, UMF Iași combines academic tradition with modern facilities and global opportunities. The university comprises four faculties: Medicine, offering a 6-year MD program in English or French with early clinical exposure; Dental Medicine, with a 6-year DMD program in English or French that integrates biomedical sciences, clinical training, and community engagement; Pharmacy, offering a 5-year Pharm.D. program in English focused on drug development and patient care; and Medical Bioengineering, which provides a 3-year Bachelor’s program in Balneology, Physical Therapy & Medical Rehabilitation and a 2-year Master’s program in Biomedical Engineering, both taught in English.

The international outlook of UMF Iasi pertains to the continuously growing share of international citizens among the students who choose the University as their Alma Mater. The rich diversity of its student body is fundamental to its mission of educating outstanding health care professionals for the multicultural world of the 21st century.
UMF Iasi is a founding member of EduCare 5.0 consortium – “Transforming Healthcare Education and Care Services through Digital Innovation,” together with eight other prestigious partner universities from across Europe, all committed to modernizing higher education through digital innovation in the health sector. The university maintains active partnerships across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, providing opportunities for:

The University is also an active member of the EUA, AMEE, AUF (L'Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie), of CIDMEF and CIDCDF (International Conferences of the Deans of Francophone Medical and Dental Schools) and has been actively involved in AMSE (The Associations of Medical Schools in Europe). In a continuous effort to implement a modern strategic management and reinforce our capacity for change, the University went through three EUA institutional evaluation assessments (IEP 2012, IEP 2016, IEP 2022), became a Full Individual Member of the EUA in 2022 and, in December 2020, was awarded WFME Recognition Status.
