The National Academy of Music "Gheorghe Dima" (ANMGD) is situated in Cluj-Napoca, the main regional centre and historic capital of Transylvania, a city with 350.000 inhabitants, university centre with eight public and private universities, serving nearly 60000 students. The teaching and administrative activities are carried out in one building, located in the downtown area.

The "Sigismund Toduta" Doctoral School offer two types of doctoral programs in the fundamental area of study of "Arts", field of "Music", as provided by law: scientific Phd (in musicology, ethnomusicology, historiography, theory, musical aesthetics, musical theatre) and professional Phd (in music composition, opera direction, choreographic direction, music interpretation stylistics).
